If you have scars and are not finding options to remove them effectively, then fear not. Laser treatment can get rid of your scars for you, quickly and efficiently. For instance, if you have acne scars which are of a very stubborn type, then there are basically two kinds of lasers that would be used for the treatment – ablative lasers (which are used in resurfacing) and non-ablative lasers (which do not damage the surface of the skin). If you have a moderate to severe case of acne scars, then ablative laser would be used, they can totally remove keloids which are caused due to acne.

Ablative lasers basically burn off the unattractive scarred tissue, but one disadvantage of them is that they sometimes cause minimal damage to the lower layers of the skin. This does not lead to scarring, but you should note that the skin takes at least a couple of months to heal properly. Ablative lasers can be of two types – carbon dioxide lasers (which treat atrophic scars) and pulsed dye lasers (which treat thick, red nodular scars).

When you undergo laser treatment for scars, you should note that your skin will be raw and inflamed, and you would need a lot of post-operative care, only this would prevent infection. If you need multiple sessions of laser treatment, then you might have to tolerate many prolonged months of discomfort, because your skin will be extremely tender. However, non-ablative laser treatment does not hurt the skin; it reduces the production of sebum by heating the sebaceous glands. It stimulates the production of collagen, this makes the depressed scars fill out naturally and smoothen themselves out.

In fact, non-ablative laser treatment does not have nasty side effects, and unlike in the case of ablative laser treatment, there is no risk of infection. But this is only for people who have mild or moderate scarring, and multiple sessions are needed. Plus, non-ablative laser treatment is quite expensive. Sometimes, your doctor might prescribe Retin-A (retinoid) treatments and Alphahydroxy or glycolic acid (chemical peels) along with your laser treatment to get the optimum results to remove your scars.

So basically, how do lasers work, when removing scars? Well, all kinds of lasers (ablative, non-ablative, and fractional) are effective in treatment superficial and medium depth scars. They work in two ways – by removing the superficial scar tissue (this is called laser resurfacing), and the laser energy stimulates the formation of new collagen in the dermis – this results in the skin tightening and firming up – this in turn makes the depressed scars rise to the surface. In this two-fold mechanism, the laser treatment is effective in smoothening out the scars and making them much less visible.

Laser treatment for scars is quite expensive, but if you have really bad scars and can afford it, do go for laser treatment as it is definitely one of the best options that are available to treat your scarring. You could go for ablative lasers (which emit high energy at extremely short pulses, thus vaporizing the targeted scar area which little or minimal damage to the surrounding healthy tissue), they are a good alternative as compared to dermabrasions and chemical peels. You could also go for carbon dioxide lasers (studies have shown that they are 50-80% effective in dealing with atrophic scars), they can achieve a depth of 20-60 micrometer and a thermal damage diameter of 20-50 micrometer. Then there is also Pulsed Erbium YAG available, which produces less thermal damage than the CO2 laser, but it is not as efficient. But it is useful in treating the superficial atrophic scars.

Over 14 million people in the whole of North America have been reported to be suffering from rosacea. But this need not be such a problem at all with the kind of natural solutions that we do have for rosacea.

Fair skinned women particularly get affected by rosacea. Women between ages 30 to 60 are most likely the victims of rosacea. Rosacea comes with areas of redness in your face and creates tiny bumps on you as well. They can come in the forehead, chin or even your cheeks.

These small blood vessels that are triggered are called telangiectasia. They usually have a tendency to blush and give you an overall flushed appearance. The redness can also come with a bulbous look called differentrhinophyma that brings you a gritty sensation. The ones occurring in and around your eyes are called ocular rosacea that comes with some burning sensation.

Some of the natural conditions for these flushed conditions worsen with antibiotics or regular medication. Laser therapy are however helpful in cases of extreme rosacea. Some of the usual herbal processes that are used may take some time but give great results with safety and effectiveness. The reduction of flushing appearance is the first step that can be used to help rosacea. The following creams of herbal origin or natural extracts are always helpful. These are:

Cream from Chrysanthellum Indicum or a cream containing the herb Chrysanthellum extract: When this herbal cream is applied topically, a considerable improvement is seen in most cases. This herbal extract is known to strengthen capillaries and works very well when applied just twice a day. This is a very strong medicine that brings about reduction in conditions of rosacea in just 1% concentration in a cream form. This can be made available through homeopathy shops or herbal medicine shops. Any naturopath would be able to help with this as well.

Green Tea cream: Green tea proves to be wonderful for varied conditions and the treatment of rosacea is one of them. Green tea based creams are extremely helpful in giving you relief from rosacea as well as many other itchy skin syndromes. The cream must be natural 100% extract based and organic to be effective. This is extremely great in reducing the redness or the flushed skin syndrome and even reduces the postulation and red bumps. A cream containing polyphenone at 2% rate along with Green tea extract is helpful just as well. Researches and study on this cream as compared to a placebo application has proved that this cream indeed works. About 75% of patients using this cream have reported positive improvements in their rosacea.

Niacinamide Cream: This extract from Vitamin B3 is a great thing to be used in cases of rosacea. It improves the skin’s natural barrier to help lock the moisture as well as drive out the germs that seem to invade externally. When used with a moisturizer in a 1:1 ratio this application has been noted to be extremely positive. Several weeks of this application naturally strengthens and gives the skin a great improvement. Exploded rosacea gets controlled as well. There are many facial moisturizers too containing Niacinamide extracts that are now being used to add enhancement to skin health.

Treatment for Acne

There are many types of acne home treatments that can be practiced well at home for maximum effect.

Using organic, fresh and natural home treatments are way better than going for things that are loaded with chemicals. There happens to be different types of acne with each kind taking different durations to be cured and healed. Something that is very effective on acne is an avocado mask. One can make it through evenly mixing a very ripe avocado with a little water.

The consistency should be thick and so very little water should be added. This becomes a very good facial mask as the avocado oil is very helpful in penetrating the skin without making the sebaceous glands overactive. This is one of the most beautiful benefits of avocado. Avocado is used in different cosmetic items. Their oil is rich in Vitamin E and other vitamins. The mask is nourishing as well as cleansing. If you have acne, your skin will certain start clearing up and glowing with health when you use this mask daily.

This mask should be made with fresh avocadoes only as the skin items bought from stores would have added chemicals which might not be bringing the highest benefit of the fruit. Even if you do not have acne this mask is awesome to give you the glow no matter what skin type you may be having!

Oatmeal mask is another kind of mask that can be used to cure acne or any skin infection for that matter. Take a couple of finely ground oatmeal and mix it with warm water to reach the desired thickness. But then don’t eat it! Let the mixture cool a bit and then apply it to face. Leave for several minutes and as it dries gently scrub off the mixture in circular manner.
