At the same time, prescription drug abuse has raised to greater extend, Narcotics Control Board of U.N. reported

This is the most positive aspect that illicit drug use, among teenagers, has reduced 24 percent in the previous eight years, Melvyn Levitsky said.

According to a government survey, there are still 20 million teenagers who are considered to be the user of illicit drug, in America.

The reduction has particularly seen in the 12 to 17 years old youngsters. However, the decrease has been seen in the use of all drugs.

Except pain killer, the decrease among all drugs has also been noticed in the youngsters aged 18 to 25. Prescription drugs, after the cannabis, are now generally abused substance.

The unnecessary use of pain killer drugs by adults has risen from 4.1 to 4.6 percent in the last five years.

“In spite of this considerable decline, the drug abuse among U.S. teenager students is almost 47 percent. They used to tried illegal drugs when they leave secondary school,” the INCB said.

With respect to available data, in 2000, American spent $64 billion on the illegal drugs and the health care expenditure and lost productivity estimation was round #181 billion.

In their tests, the researchers the researchers looked for the levels of some proteins (VEGF, IL-6 and IL-8) in melanoma cells after exposing them to norepinephrine (stress hormone).

The researchers found a considerable increase in the production of these three proteins when they were exposed to stress hormones.  There was a 2000% increase in IL-6 proteins in C8161 cells.

Eric V. Yang, one of the lead authors of the study, says: “Our study reveals that stress can cause worse effect on patients with advanced stage of melanoma by increasing IL-6 levels,”

The researchers also noted that stress hormones seemed to bind to receptors on cancer cells’ surface.

More tests revealed that commonly used blood pressure drugs considerably decrease the production of IL-6 and other proteins in the cancerous cells.

The study has been published in the Journal Brain, Behavior and Immunity February issue. The researchers suggest that prescribed blood pressure drugs may prove effective to slowdown the progression of melanoma.

Warning has been announced about the use of melanotan I and II, which has been reported to damage cardiovascular system and the immunity. Michael Evans-Brown said, instead of any improvement the situation is worsening.

He and his colleagues have already received the report of continues illegal jabs of needle exchange. Melanotan, a synthetic hormone, used to enhance the production of melanin pigment that gives color to our skin.

The use of this hormone has been associated with the health problems like hypertension, nausea and facial flushing. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is trying to stop sale of the product, since the report was delivered that some website and tanning shops are selling unauthorized treatment, last year.

Up till now, FDA hasn’t proved the drug for any kind of treatment so the sale and purchase of this drug is illegal, but apart from it, the users of this drug are increasing day by day. Michael Evans-Brown said, recently more than 30 syringe exchange teams has met him in relation to this issue.

He also highlighted the websites where information on the regular use of this drug is available.

“Needle exchange teams are asking for solution. They have never come across the situation like this before. But the user must have to keep one thing in their mind that they are putting their lives on risk just for a tan.”
